Clean the exposure source

Prepare damaged coating
Remove loose corrosion and feather failed coating using the method recommended for the product. Match primer and topcoat to the existing system.
Investigate recurring rust
Repeated failure at a base may signal trapped water, damaged galvanizing or an incompatible metal connection rather than a paint problem.
Check the decision before committing
Before ordering or approving work, explain in plain language how the proposal handles clean the exposure source, prepare damaged coating and investigate recurring rust. When the explanation depends on phrases such as “it should be fine,” identify what measurement, document or product specification would replace the guess.
